Whenever we double click on a program in Windows, it opens on a default platform set by Windows. Like that, when you double click on an image/picture, by default Windows Photo Viewer open the images. However, you can change the default setting of Windows to open your image in a specific program that you wants like, Photoshop, Photo viewer, GIMP, etc.
Follow the below mentioned steps to change which program should used when you are opening a specific file format.
Method 1:
Step 1: Open Control Panel (in large icon category) and click on ‘Default Programs’
Step 2: Here you will see ‘Set your default programs’ and ‘Associate a file type or protocol with a program.’ If you will click on the first option, you will see how many default programs has for a file type.
Step 3: Here you can click on ‘Set this program as default’ to open it default file types or ‘Choose defaults for this program’ to change the files type of a specific file.
Step 4: Click on the ‘Choose defaults for this program.’
Step 5: Check the file extensions you want to open with Windows Photo Viewer or uncheck those you don’t want to open with Windows Photo Viewer and click on save.
Method 2:
You can also change the default program via ‘Open With’ option
Step 1: Right click on the program and click on ‘Open With’
Step 2: The list of all ‘Recommended Programs’ will open by clicking on the ‘Browse’ option you can also search the program from your computer.
