Facebook is a social networking site. People join this site for fun and spend time on their Facebook account when they feel they should have some break. - Sign In Into Facebook: First of all you need to log into your Facebook account. Once you are done, go to the upper right corner of your home page select the Account Settings option. From the dropdown menu, select the Security. Scroll down the page and select the “Deactivate your account” option.

- Reason to Deactivate: In the next step, you will be asked about reason to deactivate your account. You will see different options to select from, select one. And if you don’t want to tell the reason, you may click on the “Other” option. Another option will be there if you want to give detailed information about why you are deactivating. For that you may fill in the “Please Explain Further”.
- If you don’t want to receive emails from Facebook, you need to click the “Opt Out of Receiving Further Emails from Facebook” option. Your friends can still tag you in their posts but you will not receive any notifications until unless you will again activate your account.
- At the end, click the Confirm to deactivate your account.
This way your account will be hidden from your friends and other facebook users but your data will be safe and you can return at any time. If you want to reactivate your account, you will simply need to log back into your facebook account. Deactivating a Facebook account is not similar to deleting your account. You can deactivate your account either from your PC, iPhone or through Facebook app in other mobile devices.
