Do you need to record your screen activities on Mac? If yes, you don’t need to download any extra program because now the functionality is packed into the Mac OS X itself with the QuickTime app. This QuickTime App is meant to let the users watch videos as well as record the screen activities of the Mac. You will find it remarkable as it is free and is built in all versions of OS X. Here is a guide how you can use this app as a screen recorder on a Mac. Follow the instructions shared below:
- First of all start on the QuickTime Player under the Applications
- Drop down the file menu and select the “New Screen Recording” option
- Click the red button. App will start recording all screen activities on Mac
- If you want to stop recording, simply press the Stop Recording button under the menu or you can do it by hitting “Command+Control+Escape”
- After the recording will be stopped, recording will be automatically opened in the QuickTime app player where you can save the file at a location where you will want. The default saved recording file will be .mov but if you want to export it to any other format, you can do it by using the “Export” or “Save As” options.
This app will perform its recording job behind the screen so that your screen activity may not get disturbed by this application. You can halt the screen recorder by using different keyboard shortcuts. Newer versions of this program hide the player completely and perform its job entirely invisible.
You can also control the recording by some mouse clicks i.e. an optional feature if you use its record screen feature for the first time, using mouse clicks options will be good as it makes the clicks more obvious by showing circles around them. You can also use this app for recording audio but you need to have microphone for it. You can also record audio by setting it to “line-in” if you want to direct audio from the Max for recording screen activity. You can use these additional features by clicking the arrow located at the bottom to show a menu including all microphone options, recording quality options, mouse clicks and file saving options.
There will be a checkbox next to each menu and if this box is checked, that option will be enabled and selecting that check will disable the feature. You may intend to use selective options before starting the recording. These checkbox will help you to do so.
