Most of the latest Mac machines comes with a built-in front face camera, used for video communication via FaceTime, Skype or other supportive video telecommunication tools. In previous model this camera was called iSight and now it name has been changed to FaceTime camera. Sometimes it happens that when you wants to make a video call via FaceTime or Skype then a message appeared “There is no connected camera”. It is a very irritating moment that your Mac OS X have a camera and it is showing that there is no connected camera.
No need to worry any more. You can solve this bug by some simple and workable techniques.
Techniques:
Whenever we used the camera than a program named VDCAssistant, manages the connection of camera in background and sometimes it happens that due to some error it failed in managing and controlling the camera in background. So by launching the relevant program, which is VDCAssistant this problem can be solved.
Follow these steps.
- Quit all those programs, which are using the camera.
- Open terminal from Application/Utilities directory.
- Enter this command “sudo killall VDCAssistant” without inverted commas.
- Insert password if requested.
- Re-launch that app in which you was trying to use camera. You are good to go.
Troubleshoot:
If you are still facing the camera issues then by troubleshooting you can solve the errors of no camera available.
- If you are using iSight or FaceTime camera for a specific application like iChat than use it in other application. If it is working in other application then reinstall that application in which camera was not working.
- Test your camera availability by another user account. May be there are some issues in your user setting.
- Connect the device with computer and check if the computer recognizes or detected the camera.
- If camera is not still working then reset the computer’s SMC or PMU. Restart the device and after that check the System Profile.
These techniques are equally useable for previous Mac OS (iSight) and latest Mac OS (FaceTime).
